In soda blasting media process, size of the particles matters a lot. It should be the size of the sodium bicarbonate crystal that makes up the media and manufactured in a process to get consistent crystal size results. Larger particles don’t cause dust and work efficiently. Usually Natrium 260 is considered to be the ideal size for soda blasting media. Small size crystals don’t do as much work as do larger crystals and they only put excessive load on the equipment without significant results.
In spite of a pure and proper soda blasting media system, other manufacturers add scrap into the soda that spoils the purity of the process. Sodium bicarbonate is water-soluble. You can draw and wash it but typical calcium carbonate, are not water soluble. To remove their traces need more time and work. If you put one of blaster vessels to their air supply, the moisture in the air will create clusters and clog in the soda. It is proved with research that not every soda is same.
